Fertility Astrology

An Alternative Fertility Treatment

Astrology is all about time

Most doctors will agree with the statement that sometimes with fertility treatment, especially where there are no specific problems, that it is simply “not the right time”. This is not comforting to the patient, who is usually desperate to fall pregnant. An astrologer can help by pin-pointing fertile moments in a chart and getting the couple to accept the nature of time and patience. There can be up to three of these astrologically fertile moments in a year in anyone’s chart, at child bearing age of course, and it would benefit both the patient and the doctor if patients could use astrology to time their treatments.

Battling to fall pregnant, or infertility, means trying to conceive for more than a year, (or six months if you’re over 35), or already having a documented infertility issue like anovulation or Male Factor Infertility. Infertility is commonly defined as the inability to get pregnant, or maintain a pregnancy, after adequately trying for 12 months (and in some cases for a full six months) without medical assistance. Astrology is uniquely positioned to address illness in the sense that illness is seen as a journey of self-identity. This is in keeping with the genre of narrative medicine, established by doctors in the 1990s, that has shown that fiction heals.

Nicola Smuts Allsop advocates using astrology in an integrated way that includes all aspects of healing, including acupuncture, homeopathy and herbalism.

All she needs is a birth date, the time of day (nearest) you were born and the town where you were born. If it is a small village, and not on a map, then use the next nearest town east or west. The same information is needed for the partner, gestational carrier or egg donor. Clients can either consult with her directly or make use of her recently launched app.

Nicola Smuts Allsop – Fertility Astrologer

fertiility astrology picture of Nicola Smuts AllsopNicola Smuts Allsop is a consulting astrologer living in the United Kingdom. Originally from South Africa, she completed her first studies at the Rod Suskin School of Astrology in Cape Town, and completed a Diploma in Medieval Astrology with Astro Logos (Bernadette Brady) in the UK. Nicola has recently graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University, with a Master’s Degree in Myth, Cosmology and The Sacred.

Author of the newly published FERTILITY ASTROLOGY, A Modern Medieval Textbook, Nicola has specialised in this field and has undergone fertility treatment herself. She is a mother of two adult children and can empathise and understand the pain and the desperation of trying to conceive.

Nicola lectures internationally on her fertility work and her research and methods in this field are pioneering and unique.

Her success in diagnosing fertility issues in charts and finding potentially fertile times to try In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and other reproductive treatments has been published in The Sunday Times (London), The London Times, and the Daily Mail. Her work has also been featured on national television (Free Spirit, Top Billing) in South Africa.

Many couples are extremely grateful to her for the valuable, time-saving advice and recommendations she is able to provide to maximise the potential for conception. Her practical knowledge of the process of IVF and other reproductive treatments is extensive, and her own personal experience of infertility makes her a compassionate and caring professional.

Using astrology, Nicola is also able to:

  • Identify morphology/motility problems in the charts of men
  • Describe the condition and quantity of egg production in women
  • Describe the condition of the fallopian tubes and anticipate the likelihood of laparoscopy or surgery
  • Identify thyroid or other endocrine factors that inhibit hormone development
  • Identify certain psychological issues from the natal chart that might be inhibiting fertility in both men and women – this is most successful
  • Select optimum times for couples to try IVF/other treatments – an average couple has up to three astrologically fertile times a year.

Clients can also consult Nicola on matters relating to their relationships and how to improve these, as well as on matters relating to their general health and well being. Obtaining a better understanding of ourselves and of the significant people in our lives helps to reduce the stresses that can make people ill, unable to sustain lasting relationships and thereby struggle to reach their full potential.

Nicola has developed an app which now enables more people to access her complex astrology and receive up to three potentially fertile times for the year ahead to conceive.

Nicola is 50 years old, is married and has two adult children, and is currently practicing from the UK, but also over the internet using email and Zoom.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR CONSULTATION

How we feel affects how we think, and how we think affects how we behave and these habitual behaviours affect our health.  Nicola can discuss the default settings of your chart and where the weak points and strong points are and how to negotiate the outside world with your own sensitive awareness without taking on the negativity of others and the patterning of the past.

Nicola will focus on medical history as a narrative, your emotional responses to situations and your defense mechanisms.  Astrology can help to strengthen your immune system by putting proper emotional boundaries in place through understanding the role you play in your family constellation and in your working world.

Astrology can help us accept our own limitations as human beings as well as those of the people we love.  Sometimes it is helpful to understand that someone behaves the way they do in a relationship not because they want to, but because they don’t know any other way to express themselves.  The objectivity of such a reading does not challenge either party, nor does astrology take sides… Find out more about where your “bliss spots” are with your cosmic mate and take your understanding of one another to a new level.  Your partner does not need to be present, but you would need their permission to discuss their chart.

Nicola can also discuss how each person communicates, what their value systems are, and how they perceived their own nurturing as well as what makes them feel safe and nourished as an individual. Be prepared for some rare honesty and be brave enough to take responsibility for loving and being loved by an extraordinary human being. Because we all are extraordinary!

You do not need to attend the consultation with your partner but you will need their permission to discuss your fertility issues.  Nicola will discuss your medical history and you will be asked personal questions about the quality of your eggs and sperm, your hormone function results and your menstrual cycle.  More broader issues such as expectations of parenthood, financial concerns, and past parental/abuse/drug abuse/addiction/depression might be raised.  This is not an in-depth psychological consultation, Nicola will touch on those issues that appear as suggested by the astrology to be interfering with conception, and you may take these issues elsewhere to explore at some other point, or not.

The primary focus will be to time when you plan to have treatment or even natural conception, if that is the case.  You will receive some notes ahead of your consult, sometimes an hour beforehand. Please try to have them handy, but they are not necessary if forgotten. These are meant to be an aide de memoir as they will allow you to focus more readily on what is said without having to concentrate on the dates, which can be overwhelming.  If you do have a repeat consultation, you should email the relevant page/s to Nicola ahead of your consult, as she is not always at her desk in the UK.

A world first – there is nothing else like it available!

Falling pregnant is something we take for granted –
until we struggle with it.

The Fertility Astrology app can tell anyone who wants
to know what their ideal fertile times for conception will
be in the year ahead – within minutes.

Timing is everything. Astrology and conception
are all about cycles and timing.

Many couples struggling with infertility will have to make a decision about when to have treatment and whether or not that treatment will be In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Artificial Insemination, or a home plan. Time will need to be taken off work and vacation plans will need to be shifted.  Very often a large part of the stress involved is who decides when to cycle.  This fertility app should make this decision really easy.

Through a complex methodology developed by Nicola Smuts Allsop over the past 17 years, using medieval astrology as a base, the Fertility Astrology app uniquely provides couples with up to three astrologically fertile times in which to try to conceive for the next 365 days, per once off purchase. For the times for each following year or for different partner configurations, re-purchase is required.

Couples will enter their birth time, date and place into the app, fill out a short medical questionnaire and within minutes the app will give a page of results of the these times, listed in chronological order.  These times are very specific to you AND your gestational partner’s birth charts the app takes both charts into consideration and the results will be a combination of the birth data entered. The Fertility Astrology app can be applied to any family type – male+female; female+female, male+male, surrogate and egg donor – this is also unique!

The information available on the app also helps to educate and prompt the user to investigate medical conditions that might be affecting the infertility of both partners.

There are other fertility-related apps available but they do not make use of the same methodology to pin point these astrologically fertile times.

Nicola is available for an hour-long consultation via Zoom should purchasers require more in-depth information and guidance, as well as three years’ worth of timings for high fertility and IVF planning.

“I’m hoping that health practitioners will use the app with their clients to improve their chances of falling pregnant,” says Nicola Smuts Allsop of Fertility Astrology. “Astrologers can also use this an additional tool for their clients.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my stressful job affect my fertility? Will I get pregnant if I just relax and take time off work?

No, not necessarily, sometimes it is even more stressful to alter one’s daily routine. Astrology can help choose the right time to fall pregnant, conception can happen under the most stressful circumstances, so relaxing is only a small integral part of preparing for achieving conception. Certain Sun signs and certain astrological placements can predispose one to be more career-oriented than other signs and this certainly can have an affect on one’s fertility, inasmuch as society places too great an emphasis on the pressure to stay at home and this can cause un-diagnosed fear and blocks to conception and pregnancy. It is helpful to understand what kind of Sun sign you are to see if you are a candidate for stress and for this kind of hidden fear of falling pregnant

Does diet play a role in fertility?

Of course a healthy lifestyle will contribute to a healthy conception, pregnancy and confinement, but diet is not the only contributing factor to ensuring conception. One’s physical health is seen in the birth chart and certain conditions such a PCOPS can be treated with weight loss and other conditions such a thyroid/endocrine issues can be diagnosed in the chart and dealt with timeously and efficiently with medical assistance.

How do I know I am ovulating?

Register with a clinic and use their scanning facilities to check exactly when you are ovulating, it is a common misunderstanding that every woman ovulates on day 14 of her cycle, some women ovulate earlier or later, so by ensuring exactly when you ovulate and how many eggs there are at ovulation, you can increase your chances of natural conception considerably, before trying other more invasive methods of fertility treatment.

Is IVF like playing God? What happens if I am really religious?

IVF, Gift, and other methods of fertility treatment all use advanced medical technology to increase your chances of conception. All these methods can achieve is a fertilisation of the egg and the sperm, the conception then happens once the embryo (fertilised egg and sperm) is re-introduced into the uterus. The conception will then happen over the next 36 hours, during which time the uterus will either accept or reject the embryo. So, no matter how much technology you use to get the embryo into the uterus, neither the Doctor nor the patient has control over if conception happens, this is still left to the powers that be.

Why is it that sometimes a woman will have multiple treatments one after the other and then give up trying, only to fall pregnant naturally later?

Astrology teaches us that there is a time for everything, and no amount of technology can manipulate our Fate. We can use Astrology to identify the times when we are most likely to conceive and even then there is no guarantee, just an increased chance at conception. It is not the domain of mere mortals to decide who gets pregnant and why, this leads to judgmental attitudes that merely serve to undermine the mysterious creative power of the feminine principle.

Are there certain times that are more conducive to falling pregnant such as during a full moon or a new moon and how does one find out about these methods?

Astrology is full of literature about when to plant certain plants, when to harvest and when to sow, in fact the literature is confusing at best. At Fertility Astrology we research these old methods and based on findings either use them to good effect or lose them accordingly. There is no research done to date, to suggest that conception happens at full or new moons. It is very difficult to pinpoint conception as the window period is so large, so using lunar phases is not reliable. At Fertilityastrology.com all your transits will be taken into account and your personal chart will be used to time your fertility, not just the phase of the moon.

Can astrology diagnose medical conditions that will inhibit fertility?

YES! This is the most wonderful practical application of astrology, one’s physical health and condition of the uterus, number of eggs, condition of fallopian tubes and sperm count, morphology and motility are visible in the chart.

The Clinic says that there is nothing wrong with my partner’s sperm and nothing wrong with my cycle, and still we are not falling pregnant? Why?

Astrology is all about time. Most doctors will agree with the statement that sometimes with fertility treatment; especially where there are no specific problems, that it is simply “not the right time”. Of course this is not comforting to the patient, who is usually desperate to fall pregnant, but an astrologer can help by pin pointing those fertile moments in a chart and getting the couple to accept the nature of time and patience. There can be up to about three fertile moments in a year in anyone’s chart, at child bearing age of course, and it would benefit both the patient and the doctor if patients would use astrology to time their treatments.

How do I get in touch with an astrologer? Are all astrologers using the same methods?

If one is merely curious about one’s life path and one’s career opportunities or one wishes to explore and further understand the nature of one’s own psychological processes, then most astrologers would be able to address these issues. What makes Fertilityastrology.com unique, is that Nicola Smuts has developed certain methods based on ancient medieval writings and has successfully applied them to modern day fertility issues. Nicola has specialised in this field, she has undergone fertility treatment herself, she is a mother of two children and has empathy and understanding of the pain and the desperation of trying to conceive. Not only do her clients receive a vast amount of helpful, practical information, they also receive compassion, and support throughout the cycle of treatment should they wish to consult her.

How do I make a booking to speak to Nicola Smuts Allsop and what information do I need to supply?

Visit our consultations section, and follow the prompts from there. You will need to supply your birth date, time and place. The time should be as accurate as possible, please check your birth certificate or ask a relative if you are not sure – this is important.

What can I expect to learn from my consultation?

You will spend an hour on Skype or over the telephone or in person should you be in the same location as Nicola, and she will address the following issues: Your physical limitations or predispositions in regard to your fertility, as regards your health, and your lifestyle. Nicola will address the underlying psychological reasons for your possible infertility and she can offer suggestions to overcome these. Nicola will look at the year ahead and nominate the best times to undergo IVF/AI or any other fertility treatment, and will determine the successful outcome as far as she is able to see in the chart and depending on the accuracy of the birth time given.

Fertility Astrology

A Modern Medieval Textbook – Nicola Smuts Allsop

Published April 2018 by The Wessex Astrologer Ltd, 4a Woodside Road, Bournemouth, BH5 2A

Fertility Astrology is a landmark work produced over a decade of client sessions and accurate predictions of successful pregnancies. Framing astrology in terms of narrative healing, South African-born astrologer Nicola Smuts Allsop discusses the prominent myths that reveal ancestral beliefs about fertility, timing, and the interrelationship between stellar imagery and cultural practice.

She argues that accurate fertility astrology is more than just a glance at the lunar phase or the ruler of the fifth house and its condition. Her intricate fertility astrology practice weaves together techniques from various astrological traditions, including Hellenistic, medieval, traditional, fixed star, and modern astrology’s.

Often, modern medicine has difficulty in correctly diagnosing infertility in couples. Using medical astrology, Smuts Allsop shows you how to diagnose the quality of fertility of those wishing to conceive, and what should be focused on in these unexplained cases of infertility. She then teaches techniques for the successful timing of pregnancies and births. Her techniques will aid all those couples seeking to achieve conception, those using natural methods, those who need medical assistance, those using donor egg or sperm, and in worst case scenarios, surrogacy.

This is by no means a modern ‘cookbook’ of fertility astrology. Several detailed case studies demonstrate how to navigate the complex web of delineation techniques used and provide you with all the elements you need for successful client sessions. The book concludes with resources and helpful study aids to cement the material in your own practice.

Beyond the immediate concerns of fertility, Fertility Astrology provides a compelling model for the use of astrology as a narrative healing methodology in the wider, general practice of medicine.

What a delight this book was to read! It will be for any astrologer interested in, or versed in, traditional astrology. Or any astrologer interested in the topic of significators of fertility in a natal chart. The author – as the subtitle reads – has succeeded quite well in applying medieval astrological technique in a very modern field of expertise, i.e. helping couples getting pregnant by means of IVF, hormone treatment, etc. Or just by finding out when it is the most opportune time to conceive.

I really like Nicola’s opening statement on how to read this book: “this is a thoroughly contemporary book of medieval astrology, which may well present you with new techniques and also some that might contradict what you already know.” And off she goes into a very detailed coverage of all general theory and opinion surrounding the issue of fertility (some good, some less so), and her own astrological method(s) of establishing fertility in a chart (some good, some less so; one paragraph reads: Dispelling the myth of the ‘Jonas Method’).

Four chapters are dedicated to specific in-depth case studies in which the author builds up her case for using medieval technique, and gradually introducing a solid method for evaluating fertility in charts. She doesn’t spare herself and describes all the pitfalls she had to face in doing this hands on with clients. Quite a daunting enterprise I’m sure, but this instills confidence as she ploughs through all the possible indicators having to do with this topic.

Essentially, this book is about solid astrological prediction, applied to a specific topic; fertility. And a whole range of methods for prediction available from astrological tradition for prediction are used: the almuten of pregnancy of Omar Tiberias; the triplicity rulers of the ascendant and luminary; yearly profections; progressions by solar arc; solar returns; transits; midpoints, fixed stars and firdaria. Nicola reviews and evaluates all of them and offers her view on how to use them in this field of knowledge.

The book has a chapter on ‘signatures’ of fertility, which is a (much) better title than ‘recipes for fertility’. Here we find excellent counselling advice for clients having signatures that indicate a possible fertility challenge for both male and females.

This book really bridges the debate of ‘my ancient/modern astrology is the best form of astrology there is’. Nicola is a firm believer in using both together, as she shows constantly in her case descriptions and practice. Yet I sense a bias towards medieval techniques for prediction, and rightly so as she consistently proves them to be very effective in predicting fertile periods in life.

A highly recommended read.

Explanatory Fictions – A Reason to Believe: An enquiry into how astrology functions as a narrative construct and a comparative study of placebo effects in conventional medicine.

This dissertation was submitted for Nicola’s master’s degree in Myth, Cosmology and The Sacred at Canterbury Christchurch University in 2015. The paper deals with the way in which astrology has been used in the past and how it could potentially be used in the medical field in light of recent research into what is commonly referred to as the placebo effect.

Can success with IVF treatment following astrological advice be accounted for by the Placebo Effect?

In 2001, a study made the startling discovery that in tests 46% of subjects were unable to separate the placebo effect from established antidepressants from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) database (Laughren 2001). This is a qualitative study of the role of the placebo effect on 11 couples after a consultation with a predictive medical read more here
